.............the silence. The clock is ticking and I can hear the whirring of the computer innards but that is all. For the first time in six weeks all is quiet at this time of the morning. We have enjoyed the hols with sewing, swinging, paddling, squelching, reading, baking, film watching plus some bickering, arguing and grumping thrown in to see how much Mummy can take before she locks herself in the loo!
We had a facinating day out at the Green drops and moonsquirters exhibition at the Manchester Art Gallery
I think I enjoyed it more than the children! Lots of great activites and lifesize versions of the wonderful illustrations. From dressing up to computer art work it was well thought out.
While we were there we visited some of the other exhibitons and one that really touched me was an arrangement of old suitcases and luggage with blank luggage labels for you to write ' where would you most like to be'. Many, many people had done so and attached them all over the cases, some poignant some fun I added mine to them and tucked it between two cases, a special place I would like to be.
So I will try and savour the silence and look forward to the return of my two, fast growing up, children. If your house is silent for the first time I hope you are finding the transition to school life as easy as our children.
Ahhhh, the peace. Even if I have been running around with errands.
Very jealous of you getting to see that exhibition. I would love it. Just hoping it goes on tour.

You know something, I love this time of year. Is it because September starts with my birthday? Is it because I always loved loved loved going back to school? Is it because autumn-winter is always more exciting than spring-summer, at least at my place? I don't know, but I do think that there is a lot going on for this half of the year when nature slows down and humans do the opposite. It's the best time ever...

The exhibition looks wonderful!
Isn't it funny how these transitions are easier for our kids than they are for us?
Enjoy your quiet times!

The exhibition looks fantastic!
Silence hasn't quite descended here yet as I've still got my two at home until next week. The I shall have a whole 4 hours of silence a week to savour!

Oh, how I wish I lived up north! The exhibition looks absolutely fantastic, I'm already wondering how easily I could persuade David to do a little travelling this weekend!
Our back to school/starting school is going well- so far so good!

The exhibition looks great fun!

we are hoping to visit the Lauren child exhibition before it ends, I think I/we would love it!
My Little Lady is supposed to start school today but she is poorly, so I am in reprieve till next week. I'm still unsure about it, my stomach is butterflyish at the thought.
wishing you happy peaceful days

I'm beginning to feel mean for enjoying the peace and quiet! I've loved our long and lazy summer holiday but it is nice to get a break from referee duties and nagging and to actually have some space in my head for me!!
The exhibition looks wonderful. I love Lauren Child's books and illustrations.

Isn't the peace and quiet amazing??? I sort of miss them, honest I do, but I love not having to listen to the arguing or the constant "Mummy!" "Mummy!" "MUMMY!!!"

that exhibition looks great - I just love Charlie and Lola and get so excited when the library gets new books in - I'm such a child :-). Now, I'm pretty sure you wanted to be in on the magazine swap but my e-mails got a bit befuddled - can you let me know please?

We were meaning to go and see the exhibition, but never got round to it!
The peace & quiet is great, unfortunately I only get it for 2 1/2 hours but its a start.

I'm delurking to say that I'm very envious of your visit to that exhibition - I enjoy Charlie and Lola even more than my 2 1/2 year old I think. The illustrations are so alive and funny and remind me a little of Quentin Blake. Emma x

tick tock tick tock...I wonder around the house not getting things done as a feeling of sadness slows me down and a sense that things are once again changing...tick tock tick tock
On a happier note send me your address so I can post out your goodies...

Hi Jo I am your swap partner from over at Lisa's place. It always seems strange to hear you all talk about your new school year when ours is already 3/4 finished! I hope your kids had a great first day! Let me know what you would like me to get for you!
