Button Love
I'm sure, like me, you have jars of buttons that you hoard and save because they are pretty and we have a compulsion to buy them at car boot sales. I steeled myself and managed to use some up this week making pictures for presents in shadow boxes.
Half the fun was sorting out the buttons from their jars and playing with patterns and colours, hopefully they wont be an unwanted reminder of advancing years!
Have you seen the giveaway of the century over at http://oldredbarnco.blogspot.com/2008/07/win-this-quilt.html?? The most amazing quilt, in wonderful colours will be given to one incredibly lucky person. Go and take a look.
I was wrestling with Typepad again, trying to make the link thing work - it was so easy before and even though I follow their instructions it's temperamental now, and unusually for me I had a look at my stats and where people had come from to visit my blog. I nearly fell off my chair laughing at one search that had found French Knots 'What makes big knots on your head go down'...What the...!?! The mind boggles!
Have a lovely weekend, I'll be off car booting to replenish my button stash!
I love those button cards- what a great idea!

I love those button cards. Such a simple idea but very effective :) I think I must be going to the wrong car boots because I never see buttons at the ones I go to!

Great idea for the pictures, they look fab!
I've entered for the big quilt draw, I'm not holding my breath, when I entered I was about no. 1553!! What a gorgeous quilt though, thanks for the link.

They look fab! Very impressed with you parting in some of your collection too - that's definitely my downfall!

I can't resist buying buttons at boot sales even though I really don't need any more as I have several tins full now. What a good idea those cards are, I'm sure the recipients will be delighted. I especially like Mother of Pearl buttons and they're stored in a special jar on my dresser, they're more difficult to find and I always snap them up!

What a fantastic idea for your buttons - they look spectacular. Know what you mean about Typepad - it's still 'doing my head in!' Hope you have a great time at the car boots.

Great idea with the buttons! I am a compulsive button hoarder, in spite of having a fairly modest stash of buttons. I dream of finding a jar of gorgeous vintage buttons on sale in a charity shop somewhere, but sadly it hasn't happened yet!

Can I nick the idea? I was just wondering what to do for a friends 4oth birthay!
As for Typepad, you are doing better than me as I have no idea how to check the "stats".

Your button pictures are gorgeous! I did one for my mother in law's 70th but never actually gave it to her because the lines were too wonky! Lucy x
