Big socks, little socks
No sooner is one pair finished ( not for me this time, a gift for a friend - hence them not being modelled on my chunky calves as I don't want to stretch them!) than another is on the needles
These little ones were so quick to do, but blummin fiddly. I could do with some mini dpns I think, wonder if they are available? Not that I should go looking anywhere,Helen at Angharad mentioned that she had found a great offer on sock yarn at Get Knitted and before you could say knitting needle I'd ordered 5 more balls of sock yarn! Whoops.... but it was on offer so really I'm saving money and will be able to make a start on some Christmas presents early!
I can't believe it's the first of May, the year is whizzing by so quickly and some days I'd be hard pushed to say what I'd been busy with all day. I wish the weather would perk up, unlike the rest of the country we had a grey and wet weekend and it's still pretty cold. I want to move into flip flops and lazy afternoons in the garden pottering in the warm sunshine. At least the garden is beginning to come to life, our seeds are getting rather leggy on the window sill but I don't want to loose them to a late frost.
But the hoards are gathering ready to munch their was through our veggies and salad again
I think some sort of slug slayer will have to go on the shopping list.......right off to squeeze in another row or two......

Oooh - yummy socks again Jo! I think your forward planning in buying all that special offer wool is quite admirable :)
I don't want to tempt fate but things seem to have been quiet here on the mollusc front.....even with lots of rain we've been ominously devoid of the usual hoards of slimy beasts......let's hope they overdid it last year and caught something deadly!

Lovely socks again. I love it when you get into a task but one that is easy to just pick uo, trouble is that isn't not always so easy to put down again!- just another row and I will be with you!

You're turning into a one woman sock factory!
Know what you mean about those flipping snails, they've just munched my prized (and only) allium!

I love the socks - very cozy (not great with flip-flops though!). I keep seeing fab knitting and getting all inspired but I am really struggling with mine. I need a good quick easy pattern to get me going so I can complete something to spur me on - any ideas?
Good luck with the snails. I've lost all my primula flowers to them (but not the leaves).

It seems like you're addicted! And lovely they are too! Just been in my garden, my apple tree is beginning to blossom and those snails are having a ball out there! Have a good weekend

I am an absolte sucker for fluffy, comfy socks and our look fantastic! Just the right thing for a roaring fire and a hot chocolate which is still the order of the day here as its still a bit damp, cool and drizzly.
Beautiful blossom too. Wonderful!

Well done on the socks, very impressive. I'm hoping that once I get the hang of it I may be able to add socks to my repetoire!

Sock yarn? Special offer? My ears pricked up - off to check it out...

Wow - that's impressive commitment to sock knitting! I've only knitted one pair so far, and it took me an age to get around to the second sock.
Get Knitted is great, isn't it! And I do love it when shopping is actually a form of thrift! I too am trying to be organised and get some Christmas knitting and sewing done early this year. Maybe I'll even attempt another pair of socks ...!

the socks look great - you can't beat a homemade pair! The blossom is beautiful - the snail obviously appreciates it too!

Lovely lovely socks. I am so impressed that you knit BOTH socks. I get as far as 1 1/2 and then get bored. Fortunately my family are not too fussed about matching socks.
Dratted slugs. I tidied up the red hot poker and found an entire slug planetery system evolving, I don't think I have ever seen so many in my life. Feeling too mean to zap the lot (at least a bucketful) I took them to the top of the lane and tipped them into the woods (it's probably flytipping and I'll be arrested now!)

hey there jo - saw your blog about slugs and I remembered that I read somewhere about putting crushed eggshells around the plants - apparently they hate to crawl over it (I would too if I had to crawl everywhere on my tummy!)
Worth a try. Kate xxx
